Natajak Help
How Do I Manage My Contacts?
You use contacts to decide which individuals you want to send or receive messages from and the way in which you want those messages to be delivered. All contacts are displayed in the contacts list on you phone, and there are three basic categories, each with its own icon:
| Natajakers - These are other natajak users who will receive messages as texts in the Natajak inbox on their mobile. | |
| Non-Natajakers - These are not Natajak users and will receive messages as normal texts on their mobile. To send messages to Non-Natajakers you will first need to purchase Text Out credits. | |
| Emailers - These can be anyone for whom you have an email address, with messages being received as emails on their PC, laptop or even mobile. |
You use the same processes to set up and manage contacts for Natajakers and Non-Natajakers, and as both receive messages via their phones we can call them mobile contacts. There are 3 ways you can create such contacts:
- Select 'Contacts' on the main Natajak menu
- Select 'Options' or 'More'
- Select 'Add New Contact' from the pop-up menu
- Select 'Add Phone Number' from the pop-up menu
- Enter the name of the new contact
- Enter the code of the country in which they live. The default is 44 for UK
- Enter the full mobile number of the contact (e.g. 07974 123456). Depending on your phone you may be able to import the phone number from your address book
- Select 'Options' or 'More'
- Select 'Save'
- Write the message as normal
- Select 'Options' or 'More', followed by 'Send' to go to the contacts list
- Select 'Add new contact'
- Select 'OK'
- Select 'Add Phone Number' from the pop-up menu
- Enter the name of the new contact
- Enter the code of the country in which they live. The default is 44 for UK
- Enter the full mobile number of the contact (e.g. 07974 123456). Depending on your phone you may be able to import the phone number from your address book
- Select 'Options' or 'More'
- Select Save
- Log on to the website
- Go to 'My Pad'
- Go to 'My Contacts'
- Click on 'Add Contact'
- Enter the name of the new contact
- Select phone number from the list of contact types
- Enter the code of the country in which they live. The default is 44 for UK
- Enter the full mobile number of the contact (e.g. 07974 123456)
- Click on the 'Add' button to confirm
- You cannot enter the same name more than once in your contacts list
- If you try to create a new text contact using a mobile number that is already registered in your contact list, the new record will over write the existing record
- Natajak will check automatically to see if that number is already registered to a Natajak user and will allocate the correct contact symbol accordingly
- A name cannot be more than 50 characters long
On many phones you can import individual telephone numbers from your address book and use them to create the Natajak contact as follows:
- Select 'Contacts' on the main Natajak menu.
- Select 'Options' or 'More'
- Select 'Add New Contact' from the pop-up menu
- Select 'Add Phone Number'
- Scroll down to the 'Phone' field
- Select 'Options' or 'More'
- Select 'Add from Contacts' or 'Lookup'
- Identify the record in your address book that you want to import
- Select 'Select'
- The mobile number of the selected record should be automatically populated in to the 'Phone' field
- Scroll up to the 'Name' field
- Enter the 'Name'
- Select 'Save'
No, you can add the mobile phone numbers of anyone whether they have Natajak or not. Of course to send them free texts they will need to be Natajak users so you should use Invite A Friend to ask them to also register. If they are not Natajak users and you wish to send them a text you will first need to buy some Text-Out credits.
Yes you can although the call will of course be charged at the rate you usually pay for making a call via your mobile. To make a call using a Natajak contact:

- Scroll to the contact you wish to call

- Select 'Select'

- Select 'Options' or 'More'
- Select 'Select'
- Select 'Edit'

- If it is an email contact you can edit the name and the email address as well as block the contact
- Select 'Save' to update and exit the record
- Log on to the website
- Go to 'My Pad'
- Go to 'My Contacts'
- Select the record you wish to change and click on the 'Edit' symbol which is a pencil
- You can edit the name, tag, country code, phone number and email details of the contact.
- Click on 'Update' to save your changes and leave the record.
- If the contact record was originally sent to you by someone else then the only information you can edit is the name
Blocking a contact temporarily stops you from receiving messages from that contact although that person is not aware that you have blocked them. You can block individual contacts or group contacts. This facility is really useful, for example if you are busy and decide that you want to stop receiving updates from a message board for a short time then you can temporarily block it. When you have some more free time it is an easy matter to unblock the contact.
- Select 'Contacts' on the main Natajak menu.
- Scroll to the contact you wish to block \ unblock
- Select 'Options' or 'More'
- Select 'Select'
- Select 'Block\Unblock'
- Log on to the website
- Go to 'My Pad'
- Go to 'My Contacts'
- Find the name of the contact you wish to block \ unblock
- Click on the status field. A red stop sign sign shows a record is blocked while a frog shows it is unblocked
- To protect your privacy, the person you block is not made aware that you have decided to block them. They can therefore continue to send you messages, you will simply not receive them.
- When a contact is blocked its symbol in the contact list on your phone is a red stop sign
- When a contact is unblocked its symbol in the contact list on your phone will be reset automatically to show the appropriate icon for the type of contact involved
- Select 'Contacts' on the main Natajak menu
- Scroll to the contact you wish to delete
- Select 'Options' or 'More'
- Select 'Select'
- Select 'Delete'
- Confirm by selecting 'Delete' again
- Log on to the website
- Go to 'My Pad'
- Go to 'My Contacts'
- Choose the contact you wish to delete and click on the red cross
- Click on the 'Delete' button to confirm

How Do I Manage My Groups?
These are ways of clustering individual contacts in to groups so as to make it easier to send or receive messages. There are 3 types of group contact, each with its own icon:
| Private Groups - These make it easy for you to send messages to a large group of friends or family using just one contact record. You simply combine a number of individual contacts (Natajakers, Non-Natajakers and E-mailers) in to one Private Group (e.g. My Family). | |
| If you want to send a message to the members of the group, you just select the group name from your Contacts list. The message will be delivered to every member via the applicable route (e.g. any emailers in the group will receive the message as an email). Any recipient of the message will be able to reply and their response will just be received by you. You can have as many people as you want in a Private Group. | |
| Shared Groups - These are great for text chatting with groups of friends and you can combine as many people as you want in to one Shared Group. However, unlike Private Groups, you cannot include Non-Natajakers in a Shared Group. | |
| If you want to send a message to members of a Shared Group you just select the Group name from the Contacts list and send as normal. Any recipient can reply but unlike Private Groups, their response will also be sent to every other member of the Group. When you create a Shared Group a contact record will be sent to all the other group members to appear in their contacts list. | |
| Message Boards - These let you text chat with other natajakers who have the same interests as yourself (Music, fashion, sport etc). Any message you send to a message board will be delivered to any other natajaker who has also registered for that message board. |
Unlike individual contacts, groups can only be defined and managed via the website.

How Do I Manage My Text-Outs?
You can use Natajak to send messages to the mobiles of anyone, even if they are not Natajak users. You simply create a contact and write a message as normal. Natajak recognises that the recipient is not a Natajak user and delivers it as a standard text called a 'Text-Out'.
As with all standard texts, there is a cost involved in delivering Text-Outs and the table below shows how much it costs for different bundles of Text-Out credits.
| Number of Text-Outs | Cost Of Bundle | Cost Per Text |
| 10 | £1.00 | 10.0p |
| 50 | £3.50 | 7.0p |
| 100 | £6.50 | 6.5p |
| 200 | £12.00 | 6.0p |
- You need to buy Text-Out credits before you can send messages to the mobile of people who are not Natajak users.
- We will send you a warning message when your level of Text-Out credits is running low
- One Text-Out will be debited for each message delivered to a UK based non-Natajak user. Therefore if you send the same message to 3 different non-Natajak users you will be debited 3 Text-Outs
- Messages delivered to non-Natajak users outside the UK cost 2 Text-Out credits
- Text-Outs can be used to send messages to many countries, please check below for a list of eligible states
- Use Invite A Friend to get your friends and family to sign up for Natajak and then you will not have to buy Text-Outs to keep in contact with them!!!
- A normal text message can only be a maximum of 160 characters long. If you write a text out message which is longer than this we will still deliver it by splitting it in to a number of texts dependent on how long the message is (e.g. a 400 character message will require 3 text outs). One credit will be debited for each text out delivered so a 400 character message will cost 3 text out credits to deliver.
B. How do I buy Text-Out credits?
You need to set up a LUUP mobile wallet before you can buy Text-Out credits so if you do not have one sign in to the website, click on 'My Pad' and the then click on the link to 'LUUP'. Once you have a mobile wallet there are two ways to buy Text-Out credits:

How Do I Manage My Mobile Photos?
Depending on your phone, you can use Natajak to cheaply share your photos with your friends and family. You can either take and attach a new photo or simply attach an existing image that is already stored on your phone. Then choose who you want it to go to, including non Natajakers and email contacts if you wish, and send it off. Remember a regular size Natajak photo message will cost you under 2p to send, no matter how many other natajak users you send it to.
It is easy to use Natajak to upload images to a web album. As well as backing up your photos, this saves memory on your phone and means you don't have to download your images later. We provide links to sites such as Flickr and Photobucket, and will shortly be launching our own album service so watch this space!!!.
Not all mobile phones are capable of doing all of the above either because they do not have the right functionality (e.g. not having a camera) or because some manufacturers block software from using the functionality. When you register you can check what features are supported by your phone.
There are two ways to send a photo message:
With take and send you take the photo as part of the standard message process as follows:
- Select 'Write Message' from the main menu
- Write the message using the mobile keypad as normal
- Once you have completed the message, select 'Options' or 'More'
- Select 'Take Photo'
- Compose the photo using your mobile camera as normal and when you are ready to take it select 'Snap'
- The photo will be shown on your mobile and if you want see details about the image (size, file type etc) select 'Options' or 'More' the 'Details'
- If you are happy with the photo select 'Options' or 'More' then 'Ok'
- You can now continue to edit the text in the message if you wish, and pressing 'Options' or 'More' at any time allows you to 'View' or 'Delete' the image.
- When you are ready to send the photo message select 'Options' or 'More' then 'Send'
- Select the contacts you want the photo to go to as normal
- Once you have chosen all the contacts you want the message and photo to go to select 'Options' or 'More' and 'Ok'
With attach and send you write a message as usual and then attach an existing image. Before you can use this function you must ensure the correct permissions have been set on your phone as follows:
- Exit Natajak on your mobile
- Logon to the website
- Click on 'My Pad'
- Click on 'My Details'
- Click on 'Help me make it easier to use Natajak'
- Follow the instructions for your phone as listed under 'To Set Permissions'

- Write the message using the mobile keypad as normal
- Once you have completed the message, select 'Options' or 'More'
- Select 'Attach Photo'
- Thumbnails of the images stored on your mobile are displayed for you to scroll through. If you have many images then they may be spread across a number of pages, and selecting 'Options' or 'More' and then 'Next Page' or 'Previous Page' can speed up your navigation through your image list.
- When you find the image you want press 'Options' or 'More' then 'Select'
- You can now continue to edit the text in the message if you wish, and pressing 'Options' or 'More' at any time allows you to 'View' or 'Delete' the image from the message.
- When you are ready to send the photo message select 'Options' or 'More' then 'Send'
- Select the contacts you want the photo to go to as normal
- Once you have chosen all the contacts you want the message and photo to go to select 'Options' or 'More' and 'Ok'
You upload photos to a website by first creating an email contact for the Album you want to use, and then sending copies of photo messages to that contact. Before you can start you do need an email address from your Album provider and the following links will explain how to get such an address for each of the albums we currently support:
You can set up the photo blogs now by clicking on any of the above links.
Once you have the email address you create the contact as follows:
- Select 'Contacts' on the main Natajak phone menu.
- Select 'Options' or 'More'
- Select 'Add Email' from the pop-up menu.
- Enter the name of the new contact
- Enter the full email address of the contact (e.g. xxx@yyy.com)
- Select 'Options' or 'More'
- Select 'Save'
Alternatively you can create the contact via the website either by following the links above or as follows:
- Log on to the website
- Go to 'My Pad'
- Go to 'My Contacts'

- Enter the name of the new contact
- Select 'email address' from the list of contact types
- Enter the full email address of the contact (e.g. xxx@yyy.com)
- Click on the 'Add' button to confirm
Once the Album contact is set up, create a photo message as usual using either the 'Take and Send' or 'Attach and Send' process. When you come to select who you want the message to be sent to, simply include the Web Album contact in your selection. If you then log on to the website of your Album provider, the photo image should be displayed.
You can choose the file type that will be created when you use take and send as follows:
- Select 'Settings' from the main Natajak menu.
- Scroll down to 'Image Types'
- Select the 'Image Type' you want to use and a small red dot will appear by the selected type
- Select 'Apply'

Like other natajak messages, Feeds are delivered direct to your mobile inbox and you can manage them (save, forward, delete etc) just like any other message. Sometimes the Feed contains the information while for others they give you a snippet of information and you click on a link to access the full story.
There are 2 types of Feed:
- RSS Feeds which are pre-defined and which can send you the latest news, sports, reviews and weather updates
- Personal RSS Feeds where you can define the other RSS feeds you want sending to your mobile
You can sign up to as many Feeds as you want for FREE, we make no charge for the messages you are sent, and because we believe you should always be in control of your Feeds, you can block them or unsubscribe at any time.
Defined Feeds are a selection of RSS feeds which we have pre-defined to make it as easy as possible for you to access them. As far as possible we have also tested them to make sure that they are suitable for mobile. For example, if they contain links they will generally be to a WAP site as oppose to a web site so the data costs of accessing associated stories or reviews should always be very low.
At present you can only sign up to RSS Feeds through the website.
To help get you started with RSS Feeds and to see how they work, when you register we will automatically set you up with:
- BBC News Top Stories - Sends you the latest news headlines and links to full reports

- When you have found the RSS Feed you want to subscribe to, just click on it and it will now display in the left hand window.
- A new contact record for each message board will automatically appear in the Feeds list on your phone.

We have tried to pre-define a wide range of RSS Feeds to make it easy for you to access them. However, there may be other RSS Feeds that you would like sent directly to your mobile and Personal Feeds allow you to set these up. We suggest you test such feeds carefully to check that they link to a WAP site rather than a web site, otherwise you may end up incurring high data costs.
Personal Feeds are defined by and owned by you and if you delete them then the are removed entirely. The only way to get a Personal Feed back after deletion is to redefined it as described below.

Other Questions?
Natajak will work on the vast majority of mobiles although the ability to send photo messages does obviously depend on the camera facility of your phone. When you register for Natajak we will be able to tell you whether your phone supports it and which photo functions will be available.
Natajak is designed to be kept running all the time, and so long as you do not loose the connection or exit it is always on. It does check periodically that the connection is still available which this involves tiny amounts of data being sent so even if you have Natajak running all day it is unlikely to cost more than a couple of pence.
If your mobile rings while you are running Natajak you should still be able to answer it as normal. Similarly you should be able to open and read any regular text messages that you receive.
On many phones you can keep Natajak running in the background while you use the other facilities on your phone. You do this be selecting ‘Hide’ from the main Natajak menu. When you want to return to Natajak simply start Natajak as normal and you will see that it has remained connected.
Some phones are not able to use the ‘Hide’ facility in which case it is removed from the Natajak menu and you will need to ‘Exit’ Natajak before using the other facilities of the phone. But don’t worry, any messages you are sent while Natajak is not running are stored until you next connect, at which point they are delivered to your inbox.
If Natajak is running on your phone and you loose the connection (e.g. you are in an area of poor mobile reception), Natajak will periodically try to reconnect. There are two ways to tell if you have a connection:
- Look at the word 'Natajak' at the top of the main menu. If it is in brackets () then you have lost the connection. Otherwise the connection is fine
- Select 'Settings' from the main Natajak menu. If you have a connection then the status will say connected
If you turn the 'Auto Retsart' function on Natajak will start automatically when you turn your phone on or 15 minutes after you have exitted Natajak. Your set Auto Restart as follows:
- Select 'Settings' on the main Natajak menu
- Scroll down to 'Auto Restart' in the settings box
- Select 'Auto Restart'
- Select 'Apply'
If you want to quit Natajak just select 'Exit' on the main phone menu.
To find our which version of Natajak you have select ‘Settings’ from the main Natajak menu and scroll down to version. This will tell you the version number while the name of the application will be shown in brackets. The name varies according to what make and model of phone you have.
With Natajak you can define a signature so that it will automatically appear at the end of any message you create. You do this as follows:
- Select 'Settings' on the main Natajak menu
- Scroll down to the 'Signature' box
- Enter the name youwant to appear at the end of any messages you send
- Select 'Apply'
A LUUP Account is a great way of saving money when paying for a whole range of goods and services through your mobile, including ring-tones, music, wallpapers, games and Text-Outs. LUUP are the company who manage the account, its security etc.
Many people pay for such content via their mobile phone bill, with the cost either being deducted from their remaining credit or being added to the monthly bill. Unfortunately the network operators charge up to 40% to manage this payment (e.g. £1.40 on a £3.50 ring-tone) which puts up the cost of such purchases.
If you buy content using a LUUP account the cost of managing the payment is much lower (e.g. under 30p on a £3.50 purchase), and these savings are passed on to you as lower prices. Just go to our store to see how much you can save on ring-tones bought using a mobile wallet.
Setting up a mobile wallet is simple:
- Go to our website at www.natajak.com and sign in.
- Go to My Pad and click on Register for LUUP
- Enter your name and address details.
- Link your wallet to a bank account or credit card
